HEALTH TO WELLNESS GAP

A Need for Reform of the Traditional Health Care Model

  • With the surmounting costs of treating chronic conditions and health care reform driving a shift to wellness care and prevention, solutions are needed that provide medically-guided wellness and that will ignite positive lifestyle changes.
  • Two-thirds of the $2 trillion spent annually on health care in the United States goes toward treatment of largely preventable diseases.
  •  The U.S. investment in disease prevention is less than five cents per health care dollar. As a nation, we spend far more on health care than any other developed country in the world, yet our mortality rate is not keeping pace with many other nations due, in part, to our minimal investment in prevention.
  •  Over 90 percent of health care funding goes toward treating people once they are sick, driving up human and economic costs.
  •  Almost half of the American adult population has at least one chronic illness.
  •  Persistent chronic conditions leave in their wake deaths that could have been prevented, lifelong disability, reduced quality of life and escalating costs.

About Our Company

Healthy Living Centers of America (HLCA) is a pioneer in medically-based fitness with a focus on wellness and prevention and the creator of the Healthy Living Center concept of care integration.
Since 1989, the principals of HLCA have forged strategic relationships with leading health care providers throughout the United States and have developed over two million square feet of medical and commercial real estate. Through their experience, they recognized the need for a medically integrated delivery model that promotes and supports personal health management.
